Noongar Family Safety and Wellbeing Council Rejects Dutton claims against SNAICC

As a member and supporter of SNAICC, we strongly reject the baseless allegation by Opposition Leader Peter Dutton and Senator Price that SNAICC has orchestrated a cover-up of child sexual abuse. Such a claim is ridiculous, atrocious, and so far off the mark. SNAICC has been a respected and reputable organisation advocating for vital services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families.

SNAICC has consistently worked towards promoting the well-being and rights of Indigenous children, including addressing the issue of child sexual abuse. The organisation has been at the forefront of advocating for community-led solutions, evidence-based approaches, and culturally-appropriate support for vulnerable families. SNAICC’s efforts in promoting the safety and protection of Indigenous children deserve recognition and respect.

It is unacceptable to make unfounded accusations against SNAICC or any organisation that is working tirelessly to address the complex challenges faced by Indigenous communities. Such allegations can be damaging and undermine the important work being done to support Indigenous children and families.

As a community, we should honour and respect the work of SNAICC and other organisations that are dedicated to advocating for the rights and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families. We should focus on evidence-based solutions, meaningful engagement with Indigenous communities, and collaborative efforts to address the issue of child sexual abuse and the overrepresentation of Aboriginal children in the child protection system, rather than making baseless accusations.
